In Imo state, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all
the 27 chairmanship positions and 305 councillorship seats in the
State local government election held on Saturday.
The chairman of Imo State Independent Electoral Commission
(ISIEC), Charles Ejiogu, who announced the result on Sunday, said
the election followed the laid down guidelines and procedures.
Ejiogu, declared the results without announcing the figures polled by
the parties that participated in the exercise.
Meanwhile, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples’ Democratic Party,
(PDP) in the state, Lancelot Obiaku, described the election as a
charade, a show of shame and undemocratic.
Obiaku said the ISIEC did not release the list of candidates for the
election, nor did the commission publish the voter register at the
polling units as the law requires.
Similarly, in Kwara state, the PDP and the ruling APC have differed
on the results of the Local Government elections held in the State
on Saturday.
While the PDP members claimed that the election was incredible,
the APC commended the people of the state for their support during
the elections.
The Chairman of the Kwara State Independent Electoral
Commission, Mohammed Baba-Okanla, had on Sunday morning,
declared that the APC won the championship and councillorship
elections in the 16 local councils and 193 wards of the state.
