Achebe airport records 400,000 passengers, 7,000 flights

The Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri in Anambra has recorded 400,000 passengers in 7,000 flights since it began commercial flight operations in December 2021.

The airport managing director, Martins Nwafor disclosed this on while playing host to the state commissioner for information, Law Mefor.

Nwafor explained that only two commercial airlines are using the airport at present, but talks are ongoing to bring more airlines on board.

He noted that operations are largely during the daytime, but airfield lighting systems are being installed to make night flight operations at the airport possible.
