The Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA), Chikelue Iloenyosi has called on the Zone 13 of the Nigeria Police in Ukpo to carry out more investigations into the embarrassing arrest of Nigeria women’s football legend, Maureen Mmadu.
Iloenyosi made the call following the invasion of the Maureen Mmadu Kiddies Academy in Ozubulu, her arrest and the beating up of her players by officers from the Anti-Cult unit in Ukpo, Dunukofia LGA of the State.
He stated that DCP Umar Muhammad who is in charge of investigations in the zone established that the arrest of the former Super Falcons star striker was lacking and lambasted the officers for not investigating before embarking on the embarrassing arrest and tarnishing of Mmadu’s image.
The Anambra State FA chairman said there is the need for more investigations and subsequent punishment of the officers and the petitioner, who sent a petition filled with falsehood.
Madu, who is seeking justice over alleged dehumanisation which she suffered in the hands of the police, said her ordeal started when a man, who abandoned his daughter he handed over to her for the summer football coaching at her Kiddies camp, wrote a petition to the police and falsely accused her of armed Gangsterism, Cultism, attempted murder, Child Trafficking and Threat to Life.
