Anambra state government says investigations are still ongoing into the hotel demolished in Oba, Idemili South local government area of the state over alleged link to criminal activities.
The property, officially registered as Udoka Golden Point Hotel and Suites, but popularly known as La Cruise Hotel, located along the Onitsha-Owerri Road was demolished on Saturday after the security operatives discovered alleged its sinister operations.
Speaking on the demolition, the Press Secretary to the Anambra State governor, Christian Aburime, said further developments would be communicated in due course.
Aburime said the structure was demolished in compliance with the provisions of Anambra State Homeland Security Law, which according to him, requires that any structure or building found to be housing criminals or linked to the issue of kidnapping should be pulled down.
It was alleged that over 30 graves, a shrine, as well as military camouflage, including arms and cartridges, were uncovered in the popular hotel, following a credible information from concerned members of the public about the suspicious activities going on there.
Meanwhile, some citizens of Anambra state have called on the state government to exercise due diligence and carry out proper investigation before any demolition, to avoid being used by mischievous people to settle scores or achieve some personal agenda against anyone in the state.
