The Ebonyi State government has announced that flight operations at the Chuba Okadigbo Airport in Onueke are expected to resume in November, following a comprehensive rehabilitation of the facility.

The state commissioner for aviation, Ngozi Obichukwu disclosed this on Monday while briefing Governor Francis Nwifuru during his inspection of the airport facility, as part of activities marking the state’s 28th creation anniversary.

Obichukwu said the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) recently inspected the airport’s runway which, she said, was the only aspect delaying the commencement of flight operations.

She explained that the NCAA is expected to give approval for flight operations by November.

The airport was inaugurated by former President Muhammadu Buhari during the administration of Governor David Umahi.

However, flight operations at the facility were suspended due to flaws in the construction of its runway.
