It was jubilation galore for the inhabitants of Nomeh, in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, as the Federal Government unveiled a 100KWP solar hybrid mini-grid power project in the Uhuafor area of the community, bringing to an end over two decades of no electricity supply.

It was gathered that the community, which earlier had access to electricity supply from the national grid, was cut off after their electricity transformers got spoiled and the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC refused to replace the damaged transformer.

Inaugurating the project, the governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, commended the Federal Government for citing the project in the state, assuring that his administration will complement the universal access to electricity to all citizens of the state.

Mbah, represented by his Special Adviser on Power, Joe Aneke, said the project will not only supply power to Uhuafor Nomeh and neighbouring environments, but also be a symbol of hope, progress, and empowerment for the rural communities across Enugu State.

The power project was deployed by the Rural Electrification Agency through the Federal Government’s Rural Electrification Fund.
