The English premier league will take centre stage today as all eyes will be on Manchester City, which have struggled to win matches recently.

There are eight Premier League matches being played on Boxing Day as the season begins to really heat up.

Ahead of the fixtures, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said the club are in danger of missing out on a place in next season's Champions League.

Guardiola, who noted that there are a lot of contenders, said they will be out, if they continue to lose games.

City, who are seventh in the Premier League after 17 matches, have lost nine of their last 12 matches, the worst run of Guardiola’s managerial career, and last tasted victory on December 4 against Nottingham Forest.

Guardiola's side host Everton on Boxing Day, in an early fixture at 1.30pm.

Report says City’s struggling stars were forced to sleep at the club’s training ground overnight ahead of today’s showdown with Everton.

In other premier league matches today, Bournemouth will host Crystal Palace, Chelsea will face Fulham, Newcastle will meet Aston Villa at St James's Park, while high-flying Nottingham Forest will square up against Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham.

Southampton will face West Ham United, Wolves will wait for Manchester United, while league leaders Liverpool will host Leicester at Anfield, in a 9pm showdown.
