The Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has debunked claims of her involvement in facilitating a $57.5 billion loan for the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE).
A controversial Biafran agitator, Simon Ekpa, in a now-deleted post on X, had claimed that the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have agreed to loan $57.5 billion dollars to BRGIE.
According to Ekpa, the funds were meant to support the formation of a new government following a proposed declaration of Biafra independence on December 2, 2024.
But Okonjo-Iweala strongly rejected the allegation on Thursday, describing the statement as outrageous and false.
The former Finance Minister also called on individuals misusing her name to cease such actions immediately.
