The Anambra state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the result of Saturday’s local elections in the state.

The chairman of the party, Chigozie Igwe announced the party’s rejection of the election result on Monday in Awka.

The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), had on Sunday, declared the candidates of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winners in the chairmanship and councillorship elections held across the 21 local government councils and 326 wards respectively.

Igwe who described the election as a charade, insisted that no voting took place in certain locations.

The PDP chairperson said the party was still studying the details of the election and vowed to challenge it.
