Police foil cult clash in Anambra community, arrest one

In another development, operatives of the Anti-Cult Unit of the Anambra State Police Command stationed at Enugwu Ukwu have foiled a planned cult clash in the Abagana, in Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state.

The police operatives also arrested suspected cult member, Maduka Okoye, aged 25 years old.

A press release by the Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the operatives acted on intelligence received on Saturday to arrest the suspect.

Ikenga said the team also recovered three expended cartridges from a pump-action gun at a shooting scene in Ezicheke, Abagana.

According to the police, Okoye, who confessed to being a member of ‘Baggars Confraternity’, narrated that he was in a beer parlour drinking with his friend in the area when they came under attack by members of a rival cult group identified as Axe Men Confraternity.
