Jannik Sinner cemented his current stranglehold on men's tennis as he sealed a second consecutive Australian Open title with victory against Alexander Zverev.
Sinner recorded a 6-3, 7-6, (7-4), 6-3 win over Zverev on Sunday.
The Italian world No 1 became just the eighth player in the Open era (since 1968) to win the first three Grand Slam men's singles finals he has contested.
Sinner has not lost a match on hard courts at a major since a defeat by Zverev in the fourth round of the US Open in 2023.
The 23-year-old started the season in the same imperious form as he ended the last, extending his career-best winning streak to 21 matches.
He became the first Italian, man or woman, to win three Grand Slams, surpassing Nicola Pietrangeli.
The Italian joined Andre Agassi, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic as the only men to successfully defend their Australian Open titles this century.
